I currently have TWO full time jobs, but I’m waiting to learn when I start at the new place (either July 3 or July 10). The new job is NOT a permanent position, but it’s temp to hire, Full Time at a large insurance company WITH (significant) OVERTIME.
What I’m not doing right now is composing my goodbye letter/email for my veterinary job.
I like that job, but every day I work there, I have to drive a little over 20 miles farther than where the new job is located — which adds about ½ an hour with no traffic, or an hour or more during traffic with construction. And that’s both ways.
The hourly pay is similar, but except for attending 1 hour required meetings on one Sunday afternoon a month, I have only been allowed to work 6 hours of overtime at my current job. So, I’ll be saving about 200 miles of driving a week — gas, wear on the van, plus time, PLUS will earn more than $250 a week more than i do currently. And, get paid weekly, instead of twice a month.
The recruiter said that the company looks for people who do the job well, with good (and on time) attendance. I’ve worked at the Vet Hospital since December 11 with no sick days and only 1 tardy (caused by failing to recognize changing work hours — not a problem at the new place.)
I wish I could stay at the other place, but for now the new job just makes sense. Plus, I won’t be sitting next to the lady who yells (haven’t written about that, BUT IT WOULD BE A LOUD DIARY ENTRY), who I actually TOLD, “you make me jump when you do that so loudly, and she recognized that she’s loud… and kept being loud. It really affects how well I can hear people on the phone, when there’s a woman next to me, yelling. Between that, and having her know that I don’t like being touched by people outside my family, and getting touched by her regularly — Well, I guess I’ll say things aren’t perfect. Still, I don’t plan to burn any bridges, in case I have to try again.
Hopefully I’ll be starting at the new location soon, and look forward to it!
